The Coulisse lamps draw inspiration from antique paper dioramas discovered at the house's private museum. Located above the flagship store on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, as well as the world of theatre, particularly from the temporary panels that are used as backdrops in the set. Like stage lights, all of the technical elements are simple and visible, but painted in black so as not to distract from what’s happening on stage - A simple copper circle and an aluminium pole hold the light fixture, whilst they connect it to the interchangeable screens and allowing them to pivot.

These are available in three colorways, each with a different configuration, including a T-shape, a Z shape and a single panel. The bamboo frames, made by master Japanese cabinetmakers, are of an exceptional lightness. They are covered in washi, traditional artisanal-made Japanese paper from the inner bark of mulberry bushes.

We worked very closely with the technical team to develop a very reduced, but very efficient LED light source as well as a very tactile and bold dimmer switch.
